IWA November 2017 Conference – SAVE THE DATE!

The IWA November 2017 Conference will take place on Thursday 16 and Friday 17 November 2017 at Crown, Melbourne. The theme for the conference is “Workforce of the Future – Becoming more extraordinary” and will explore skills of the future, leadership, team building, personal wellbeing, etc. The conference will include the 10 Special Interest Group meetings and the Conference Dinner on Thursday 16 November, followed by the half day conference on the 17 November. Laurie Gleeson Professional Development Award 2018

Nominations for the 2018 Development Award was formally launched on 22 June 2017. With thanks to our sponsors MWH and Russell Kennedy, the award offers a $5000 grant to a water industry professional to undertake a professional development project in 2018. The award grant can be used for travel costs, living expenses and other costs associated with the project or activity. It cannot be used to support study for formal qualifications.

Applications close Friday 20th October 2017 with the winner to be announced at the IWA Conference Dinner on 16th November 2017 in Melbourne where the winners’ video will also be screened.

IWA Conference – 22 & 23 June 2017 – Doing business in a disrupted future #Innovation

Featuring an innovative program format, our June conference featured over 20 different industry speakers including a keynote presentation from Peter Ellyard, Australia’s most prominent futurist and a highly interesting and motivated speaker. IWA/AWA Regional Conference – 23&24 February 2017

Featuring a keynote presentation from the Minister for Water, Lisa Neville MP, our first conference for 2017 titled ‘Renewing energy in the water industry‘ was a sell out event with over 250 people attending the Special Interest Group meetings and a further 280 delegates attending the Conference and Dinner over this 2 day event. November 2016 IWA Conference and 50th Anniversary Celebration Dinner

The final IWA Conference for 2016 was held on 17 & 18 November at our new bigger and better location at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC) . Titled ‘Looking forward, looking back – 50 years in the making’ attendees received engaging and insightful presentations from our keynote speaker Bernard Salt as well as several other Industry and Government representatives. IWA/AWA Conference – June 2016

The IWA Executive with the support of the AWA Vic Branch were pleased to host our mid year state conference held at the RACV City Club Melbourne on 23 & 24 June 2016. An exciting program of speakers based on the theme ‘Building diversity in our water industry’ was delivered which explored all elements of diversity and inclusion and the benefits and opportunities they bring to our Industry both now and into the future. The 2016 Biggest Ever Laurie Gleeson Dinner

The 2nd annual Biggest Ever Laurie Gleeson Dinner was held on Thursday 23 June 2016 at the Medallion Club Etihad Stadium which coincided with the June IWA Conference and Men’s Health Week. A fabulous night of fine food, education and awareness of mens health issues and networking was had by over 400 attendees. Profits raised from the night are currently being tallied to be handed over to the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia. Based on the conference theme of ‘Water: The Social Fabric’ delegates received highly engaging presentation from Tabby Gibson, Project Officer, Wathaurung Aboriginal Corporation. Tammy’s presentation then followed into an interactive State Water Plan Facilitated Consultation Workshop coordinated by DELWP. Thursday night conference dinner guests were treated to story of Rachael Robertson an Antarctic Expedition Leader, best-selling author and expert in leadership and teamwork who successfully led a year-long expedition to Davis Station, Antarctica and is only the second female to do so. Rachael revealed how she kept her team inspired and productive through the long, dark winter and provided simple yet effective tools to build respect and teamwork, stay resilient, and lead without a title.
