IWA Conference – 22 & 23 November 2018 ~ REGISTRATIONS NOW OPEN

The IWA November 2018 Conference sponsored by Trility & Davidson Executive & Boards will take place on Thursday 22 and Friday 23 November 2018 in the River Rooms, Level 1, Crown Towers, 8 Whiteman Street, Southbank, Melbourne. The theme for the conference is “ Trust: a critical success factor for culture, customers and community” and will feature presentations that highlight the key factors for trust-building in society through ethical and engaged leadership. Conference Keynote speaker Rocky Scopelliti will explore Interconnected Trust. Laurie Gleeson Professional Development Award 2019 ~ Applications now open!

Nominations for the 2019 Development Award were formally launched at the 3rd Biggest Ever ‘Laurie Gleeson’ Dinner for prostate cancer research held on 5 July 2018. With thanks to our long term sponsors Stantec and Russell Kennedy, the award offers a $5000 grant to a water industry professional to undertake a professional development project in 2019. The award grant can be used for travel costs, living expenses and other costs associated with the project or activity. It cannot be used to support study for formal qualifications.

Applications close Friday 26th October 2018 with the winner to be announced at the IWA Conference Dinner on 22nd November 2018 in Melbourne where the winners’ video will also be screened. For more information and to access the 2019 award nomination form please click here.

IWA Conference – 5&6 July 2018

2018 Biggest Ever ‘Laurie Gleeson’ Dinner ~ 5 July 2018

2018 marked the 3rd event of this kind where in excess of $150,000 has now been raised for prostate cancer research and awareness campaigns. Over 300 guests enjoyed a fabulous evening of networking and education of mens health and the ground breaking medical treatment that is restoring post cancer sufferers quality of life. This years event was held at the prestigious Members Dining Room at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on Thursday 5 July 2018 on the night before the IWA’s July conference and in place of the traditional June/July conference dinner.

IWA March 2018 Conference – 1&2 March 2018

Featuring a keynote presentation from Dr Sue Brown, Associate Dean – Engagement for the Faculty of Health and Program Coordinator of the Sport Management Programs at Federation University Australia, feedback from our delegates at the first conference for 2018 titled ‘Leadership for liveability in our community’ was very positive .

IWA November 2017 Conference – 16 & 17 November 2017

The exciting program for the November 2017 IWA Conference at Crown, Melbourne themed “Workforce of the Future – Becoming more extraordinary” was recently held for our delegates. This conference explored skills of the future, leadership, team building, personal wellbeing, etc with a keynote address from Steve Griffith – CEO of Griffith Consulting who spoke on the Future of Leadership – the five focus strategies for energising and creating a high-performance culture of results and accountability. Featuring an innovative program format, our June conference featured over 20 different industry speakers including a keynote presentation from Peter Ellyard, Australia’s most prominent futurist and a highly interesting and motivated speaker. IWA/AWA Regional Conference – 23&24 February 2017

Featuring a keynote presentation from the Minister for Water, Lisa Neville MP, our first conference for 2017 titled ‘Renewing energy in the water industry‘ was a sell out event with over 250 people attending the Special Interest Group meetings and a further 280 delegates attending the Conference and Dinner over this 2 day event. November 2016 IWA Conference and 50th Anniversary Celebration Dinner

The final IWA Conference for 2016 was held on 17 & 18 November at our new bigger and better location at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC) . Titled ‘Looking forward, looking back – 50 years in the making’ attendees received engaging and insightful presentations from our keynote speaker Bernard Salt as well as several other Industry and Government representatives. IWA/AWA Conference – June 2016

The IWA Executive with the support of the AWA Vic Branch were pleased to host our mid year state conference held at the RACV City Club Melbourne on 23 & 24 June 2016. An exciting program of speakers based on the theme ‘Building diversity in our water industry’ was delivered which explored all elements of diversity and inclusion and the benefits and opportunities they bring to our Industry both now and into the future. The 2016 Biggest Ever Laurie Gleeson Dinner

The 2nd annual Biggest Ever Laurie Gleeson Dinner was held on Thursday 23 June 2016 at the Medallion Club Etihad Stadium which coincided with the June IWA Conference and Men’s Health Week. A fabulous night of fine food, education and awareness of mens health issues and networking was had by over 400 attendees. Profits raised from the night are currently being tallied to be handed over to the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia. Based on the conference theme of ‘Water: The Social Fabric’ delegates received highly engaging presentation from Tabby Gibson, Project Officer, Wathaurung Aboriginal Corporation. Tammy’s presentation then followed into an interactive State Water Plan Facilitated Consultation Workshop coordinated by DELWP. Thursday night conference dinner guests were treated to story of Rachael Robertson an Antarctic Expedition Leader, best-selling author and expert in leadership and teamwork who successfully led a year-long expedition to Davis Station, Antarctica and is only the second female to do so. Rachael revealed how she kept her team inspired and productive through the long, dark winter and provided simple yet effective tools to build respect and teamwork, stay resilient, and lead without a title.
